If there is a map shown with DMS coordinates, and a red dot to indicate where the collection took place, do I try to "read" the coordinates from the map and enter that data?

    No need to interpret coordinates from maps. Only transcribe GPS coordinates if they are listed explicitly on the label (either in DD or DMS format).
