Interview with: Suzanne Costima

29 March 2013

Introduction

“Suzanne Costima, married to Lodewijk Knibbeler, we have 4 children and live near Breda. My family are from Amsterdam. My hobbies are: participating in the flower processions in my church and making a geneology book for my family, which involves diving into the past. As well as my hobbies I am kept pleasantly busy by my three grandchildren.”

Why Heritage Helpers?

“I have always been interested in searching through archives, and every now and then came across an error in a name. It is really important to take a lot of care if you are entering names from an archive. That is also the reason that I am involved with Heritage Helpers. Every document tells us something about people from long ago. Superb!”

Favourite project?

“I have enjoyed all the projects I’ve been involved in, you also learn a lot as you do it.”

When do you work on Heritage Helpers?

“In the morning I often wake up early, and then I do data entry, in the evening data entry or checking, it depends on the day.”

What have you learnt?

“It is good to work together, the proverb “many hands make light work” is relevant here.”

What could we improve?

“A separate section where you can share things with other people who are entering or checking the data. Last week I wanted to tell them about how good the party was on Thursday, but there was nowhere to do that. During the party I used the points I had earned on the tombola, and to my great joy I won a tablet.”
